You’ve all heard about the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) rules for bloggers – we’re supposed to disclose if we get paid to write something good about somebody or something or if we receive something for free in exchange for a review. I don’t mind the transparency – just seems like the right thing to do, regardless of what the FTC says. So here’s the scoop…

As you probably already know, I don’t make any money off the blog. There aren’t any ads or links to affiliated sites. I’m not even selling my own stuff (yet). It’s not that I’m opposed to making money, it just isn’t the primary motivator. I have a day job that pays the bills. Blogging is just my method of choice for trying to make the world a little better. I am in the process of writing a book that I intend to sell through the blog eventually. I’ll keep you updated on its progress.

I’m not opposed to writing something in exchange for a fee or payment-in-kind. If you are interested in hiring me to do some writing, send me a message and we’ll talk. However, if you want me to endorse a product or service, be aware that I’m only going to endorse something I like and I will let everyone know about our arrangement.

I don’t receive any free stuff from anybody. Again, I’m not opposed to it so if you want to send me something, feel free to do so. If I do receive something for free and choose to write about it, I will let you know about the freebie in the post. There are no guarantees on whether my opinion will be positive or negative about what you send me. If I like it, I will write good things about it. If I don’t like it, I won’t. Deal?

The list of Links on the left side of the page are the list of blogs I follow. None of the authors have solicited me to have links to their blogs. I include them because I read them regularly and find them to be worthwhile.
